Multimedia Content Use Policies

Âé¶¹APP provides photos, videos, graphics, and illustrations for editorial and academic use only. All use of multimedia content owned by Âé¶¹APP should be accompanied by proper credit and align with the policies outlined here. Âé¶¹APP owns the copyright and all other rights to the photos, videos, graphics, and illustrations produced by the university, described below.

Photo

Âé¶¹APP photographers are active on campus and around the world, providing insight into Harvard faculty and staff, news, and events. A large selection of these images is available for download by the members of the media, faculty, and staff.

News organizations have Âé¶¹APP’s permission to publish the photos in connection with news articles about Harvard, provided that the photo is not altered in any way (other than for formatting purposes) and that such use does not state or otherwise imply the approval or endorsement by Âé¶¹APP or any Harvard School, unit, division, or affiliate of the article’s content, the news organization, or any other organization, person, product, or service. The display of the photo must be credited to Âé¶¹APP, preferably with the name of the photographer, when available. Some images are licensed by the University and cannot be transferred or republished without proper licensing from the creator. If you are a member of the faculty or staff seeking to order a photo, you can do so via Webdam, a large library of campus features is maintained by Harvard Public Affairs and Communications.

Âé¶¹APP’s shares video content about life and learning that takes place on campus and around the world. Media is welcome to embed Harvard videos and audio from our account for editorial or academic purposes only. Âé¶¹APP does not grant permission to alter or edit University footage. Should you have questions regarding the policy, please email media@harvard.edu.

Graphics and Illustrations

News organizations have Âé¶¹APP’s permission to publish graphics and illustrations in connection with news articles about Harvard, or when republishing a Harvard Gazette article in full, provided that the graphic or illustration is not altered in any way (other than for formatting purposes) and that such use does not state or otherwise imply the approval or endorsement by Âé¶¹APP or any Harvard School, unit, division, or affiliate of the article’s content, the news organization, or any other organization, person, product, or service. The display of the graphic or illustration must credit Âé¶¹APP, preferably with the name of the designer or artist, when available. Some images are licensed by the University and cannot be transferred or republished without proper licensing from the creator.
